The Celebration of Life and Music is a memorial concert put on in Luling, Texas each year in memory of Tom B. Webb, IV. The Celebration also acts as a fundraiser for the Tom B. Webb, IV Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Tom was a very talented and aspiring young musician who tragically lost his life in an automobile accident at the age of 16 in 2001. Tom touched the life of many with his kind spirit and musical talents. He was a friend to all he met.
Following the example of Cory Morrow, a bevy of Texas Musicians have come forth to give of their time and talents to make this Celebration a tremendous success. With these "Texas Musicians Jamming for Texas Students" the scholarship committee was able to present $2,000 scholarships to 14 of Tom's classmates and have committed themselves to a minimum of 10 - $2,000 scholarships to each succeeding class.
The Celebration is a fun and laid back afternoon of acoustic music offering an interactive experience between musician and fans. Over 25 artist take turns sharing the stage and collaborating to celebrate the life of Tom, the love of music and the power of fellowship and community. This is an event you won't want to miss.

Scholarships for area high school and college students, Books for college libraries, Preservation and promotion of Texas History and Pasadena, Fundraising efforts for local civic, youth and non-profit groups. In 1974 a small group of enthusiastic Pasadena citizens gathered in a tent on a football practice field for the opening of the Pasadena Historical Museum and celebrated San Jacinto Day with the very first Strawberry Festival. Strawberries, famous for their size and sweetness, were the first big business in Pasadena, Texas. As many as twenty-eight train carloads of strawberries a day left Pasadena loading sheds going as far north as Chicago and Kansas City. These strawberries not only brought premium prices, but also earned Pasadena the coveted title "Strawberry Capitol of the South." |
Homer's Backyard Ball | | Starts 5/15/2010
By the next year, scads of folks from miles around were buzzing about Homer's Backyard Ball(s). Friends invited friends and those invited their friends. Imagine one person telling six of their closest friends, and those six telling six more and so on...six degrees of separation at its best. It was rumored that six missing persons cases were solved and one attendee found their long lost siamese twin at Homer's Backyard Ball last year. We won't mention the things that were lost.
Of course you can't very well drink cold beer (or iced tea) and eat barbeque and calf fries in silence and the little jam box that sufficed in the quaint little neighborhood just didn't cut it out in the great wide open of the infamous Snake Ranch. So a flatbed trailer, some electricity and lights were added and KAZAM...the perfect setting was created for a little Texas Music concert. That was the Coup de Grace...or as they are known, Cooder Graw (tm). Stage crawlin', undergarment flingin', calf fryin', cold beverage guzzlin', outta tune bellowin' folk from all over the United States (and California) had the time of their lives. Now they're hungry for more. |
