I first met Joe Ely at the Rodeo Bar & Grill in New York city and later at the Saxon Pub both where he wasn't playing,found out we were both from West Texas and been friends ever since.I watched him perform at Antone's in Austin and was impressed with the songs and his music.Above all else a nice guy.

I saw and heard Doug and band at the Saxon Pub in Austin Several years ago.Superb music and singing,was lucky to talk to him after the gig,what a genuine nice Cowboy to interview.He is a hard worker does good chain saw art and What a great Dog.

I saw them live in Boston a long time ago. NEVER expected what I heard, saw and experienced. Bluegrass with attitude. And man did they rock with the acoustic, but at the end of Pass the Whiskey when they switched out for electric? Holy hell in a handbasket, they kicked so much ass it wasn't even funny. Just... WOW. Real pity there isn't more from them.

CCR continues to put out good music time after time. To those who say "it's not 'this album' or 'that album'", of course it isn't. If you want to buy albums that all sound the same, go check out Nickelback or Daughtry. The Boys from Oklahoma keep cranking out tunes with creativity and are willing to explore other avenues than have already been pursued. Keep on rockin' boys!!

I'm not in the market for "Texas Music" or "Texas Country" or the like. I'm in the market for Good Music--because there's just two kinds: good and bad. Much of Texas's flowers have spawned a generation of weeds, cloaked in the pep-rallying Texas flag and state bravado. This album's greatness transcends the pettiness between what is Texas or what is not--it's just plain good.
