Track 1 Flowers If someone truly misses you, then they make time to see you. I was
on the phone one day attempting to "schedule" a date with someone when this
song came to mind.
Track 2 Walk On Me This is a true story. My upstairs neighbors were in a band.
They would practice at 4 a.m. The keyboardist thought he was God. My
boyfriend was a mooch. It was a sorry state of affairs.
Track 3 Wallet This song is actually a collection of quotes and "words of wisdom"
that I have heard from my fans over the years at my shows.
Track 4 Sister's Apartment This song is about how all hell can break loose when
there is prejudice and phobias against the freedom of sexual preference.
When two people love each other sexuality and race shouldn't be an issue.
Track 5 Love Like This When I heard this song I realized it was one of the most
empowering songs I had ever heard about love.
Track 6 Hole In My Pocket This song is a prayer. It is the most requested of all
my original material. Everyone sings the chorus at my live performances.
Oddly enough, I didn't write this song with the intention of ever playing it
live.
Track 7 Gravity Things can be going great and then the bottom can fall out. This
song addresses the feelings when such tragedies occur.
Track 8 The Know How I'd get it together if I could but I don't know how. I was
scheduled to play a show in San Angelo, TX and this song fell out of the
sky. I wrote it at the hotel where I was staying and I got so involved I
was nearly late for my gig.
Track 9 Lluvia De Estrellas "Rain of Stars (in my heart
tonight)." In Boquillas, Mexico (outside of Big Bend National Park), there
is a bed and breakfast run by a chatty gringa named Doris who we call
Dorita. When we visit, my songwriter friends and I stay awake all night
playing music and singing around the campfire.
Track 10 Albert The Perfect Friend Who has not met a sleazy, greasy and cheesy
character like this? Name changed to protect the identity of the accused.
Track 11 Wind Me Up There was a time when I was basically living out of my PO box. I
was low and had nowhere to go but up. Al Barlow wrote a verse to help me
finish this song, but that is another story all together. The "Wind Me Up"
choir is a group of San Marcos and New Braunfels residents who (as you can
see) are not all that shy.
Track 12 The Last Song My older sister Tammi and I shared a tiny room for sixteen
years. We were so packed into that room that we had to stand on the bed just
to open the sliding doors on the closet. We've both been in therapy ever
since (joke).
